Clarté’s R&D team develops new uses for immersive technologies, as well as new cross-functional technological building blocks supporting the implementation of xR technologies. In the ASTRAL project, Clarté brings its expertise in the application of real-time machine learning models and computer vision, and in the integration of complex immersive simulations.
Inria Rennes
Inria is the French national institute for research in digital science and technology, and since January 2024 has been responsible for the Agence de programmes dans le numérique (Digital Programs Agency), designed to strengthen the collective dynamics of higher education and research. Its DNA is based on world-class research, technological innovation and entrepreneurial risk. Within 220 project teams, most of which are shared with major research universities, more than 3,800 scientists are exploring new avenues, often in interdisciplinary collaboration with industrial partners, to meet ambitious challenges. As a technology institute, Inria supports a wide range of innovation paths: from open source software publishing to the creation of technology startups (Deeptech). The Hybrid project team, located at the Inria’s Center of Rennes University, is the main Inria’s team contributing to the ASTRAL project.
Ecole Centrale de Nantes
n the tradition of leading general engineering schools, Centrale Nantes, founded in 1919, trains versatile engineers with a very high level of scientific and technical expertise, equipped with a strong managerial culture, capable of placing scientific subjects in a global context that integrates environmental and societal issues. A member of the Groupe des Écoles Centrales (Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Paris), it welcomes more than 2,000 students to its Nantes campus.
The ECN team involved in the ASTRAL project belongs to the ‘Perception, Action, Cognition for Design and Ergonomics’ (PACCE) team at the Nantes Digital Sciences Laboratory (LS2N). This laboratory, created in January 2017, brings together research strengths in the digital field from three higher education institutions (University of Nantes, Centrale Nantes, IMT Atlantique/Nantes campus), CNRS, and Inria. The PACCE team develops expertise in the fields of human modeling, human-machine cooperation, and system design. The members of the ASTRAL project are particularly experts in the themes of perception and interaction in virtual and augmented environments.
IMT Atlantique
IMT Atlantique ranks among the Top 500 Technological Universities worldwide (Times Higher Education WUR). From fundamental to applied research, by combining disciplinary research in the fields of digital sciences, engineering sciences, physics, and management, and working at the interfaces of these disciplines, IMT Atlantique addresses major challenges for businesses and society through innovation and the development of knowledge, integrating socio-economic aspects.
The Lab-STICC, affiliated with the INS2I institute of CNRS, is a research unit historically recognized in Bretagne Océane and throughout France in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), with interests ranging from sensors to knowledge for communication and decision-making. Within this unit, the INUIT team focuses on questions raised by interaction and collaboration in mixed reality, from their design to their evaluation. The researchers involved in the ASTRAL project are particularly experts in human and synthetic perception.
